It’s always interesting to see in many of the states that demand government stay out of people’s lives, the government does so.. They cut school funding, healthcare benefits, food stamp programs, child care programs, unemployment benefits etc.. But when in comes to trivial matters like what to name your child, the government wants to go HAM..case in point..
(WBIR-Newport) A Newport mother is appealing a court’s decision after a judge ordered her son’s name be changed from “Messiah.”
Jaleesa Martin and the father of Messiah could not agree on a last name, which is how they ended up at a child support hearing in Cocke County Chancery Court on Thursday.
That is when the first name came into question.
Child Support Magistrate Lu Ann Ballew serves the 4th Judicial District of Tenn. including the following counties: Cocke, Grainger, Jefferson, and Sevier.
The name change was part of Judge Ballew’s case; however, the parents did not think the first name would be changed.
Judge Ballew ordered the 7-month-old’s name be “Martin DeShawn McCullough.” It includes both parent’s last names but leaves out Messiah.
“The word Messiah is a title and it’s a title that has only been earned by one person and that one person is Jesus Christ,” Judge Ballew said.

The judge says that because the county is conservative and very religious, the name Messiah would put the child at odds with other townsfolk, hence she wants the name changed to Martin..
When asked how she felt about the name Jesus which is a popular Latino name, the judge said she thought about it, but it had no bearing in this case.. My guess is she’ll probably flip out anyone with that name as well..
Let’s not get started on how people like Jay-Z who calls himself J-Hova.. Wonder if the judge gets mad if they show Jesus as Black..I wonder if Jesus himself is tripping?
In any case peep the video below, say good bye to separation of church and state..and remember Tennessee is one of those states that wants to remove slavery from its text books, especially as it pertains to the founding fathers..
There’s another good take on this story that focuses on the Fear of a Black Messiah.. Check that out via the homie Truth Minista at http://nowarningshotsfired.blogspot.com/2013/08/fear-of-black-messiah.html
