Welcome to the Hard Knock Radio Archives..

For those who are unfamiliar, Hard Knock Radio (HKR) is a daily drive time radio show that originated in spring of 2000 on the Bay Area on Pacifica’s KPFA 94.1FM.. The original team was Weyland Southon, Tsadae Abeba Neway, Anita Johnson and Davey D… Today the team consists of Davey D, Anita Johnson, Greg Bridges and the good folks from Poor News Network who are featured every other Thursday.

HKR features in-depth interviews and profiles with elected officials, community leaders, activists, authors, Hip Hop artists and musicians. We give voice to community concerns and offer a unique forum to explore issues relevant to the Hip Hop/urban community. We take very seriously, our commitment to give access to community groups and activists who are trying to make a difference and bring about meaningful social change.

We’ve covered everything under the sun ranging from The Black Lives Matter/Police accountability Movement to The War on Terrorism and the current domestic surveillance state to the Prison Industrial to school privatization to Domestic Violence, Teen pregnancy and the Middle East Crisis to name a few. This is on top of our the in-depth coverage we provide to artists and new music and key issues are Hip Hop music and culture..

In this day and age of media consolidation HKR strives to be a voice for the community. If you have ideas for show topics or recommendations for guests feel free to drop us an email at: HardKnock@kpfa.org
