Lil Wayne pleads guilty may have to do 12-14 months

NEW YORK— Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to felony gun possession in a Manhattan courtroom on Thursday (October 22) stemming from a July 2007 arrest following his first headlining concert in New York. The rapper will be sentenced to one year in prison as a part of his plea deal and must also give up his passport. Wayne quietly told the judge yes when asked if he understood the terms of the plea he was making.

Asked what type of gun he possessed, Wayne said, “A .40-caliber semi-automatic.”

Wayne had black jeans, a gray coat, white T-shirt and blue Chucks. He was accompanied by the CEOs of his label, Cash Money Records, Bryan “Baby” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams.

The hearing began at 10:05 a.m. ET and was over in 20 minutes.

About 20 minutes after the hearing ended, Lil Wayne exited the building, covering his head with the hood of his sweatshirt. Photographers and reporters followed as court officials escorted him to his vehicle. In response to many reporters’ questions, all Wayne said was, “What’s up?”

February 2010 and is expected to serve eight to 10 months, assuming good behavior. He must also appear in court in December for a parole update.

The incident took place in July 2007, when police pulled over Wayne’s tour bus at around 11:30 p.m. on the night of his show at the New York’s Beacon Theatre. They arrested the rapper for criminal possession of a weapon and another man on the bus for criminal possession of marijuana. Even before his show that night, Wayne made repeated comments from the stage about being hassled by police and threatened not to perform in New York again.

  2. You can tell I don’t keep up with current acts at all since I never knew he was in trouble to begin with…

If you people have kids and if you ever saw the VH1 or a Fuse show called “Beef”, when I say Hip-hop is “Helping Ignorant People – Hurt Our People” can’t you see that everyone you guys look up to eventually end up as a “parole model” for our children? Someone said I am insulting “everyone’. Yeah, if you are the one selling millions of dollars worth of records and is getting locked up for stupid crap, I need to offend people like you and your culture. Hip-hop is just like your every day drug dealers, they let you all make a little money and then lock you all up for gun possession, murder, drugs, tax evasion, child support, or whatever. Wake up! Get a real job, my people. God, help my people to grow up and to stop being “parole models” for our children.

  4. Robert, get a real job? Like, selling people food that will kill them? Or, joining law enforcement and lying for fellow officers who turn blacks and Latinos into swiss cheese during infraction and misdemeanor stops? Become a prison guard and politic with the gangs, looking the other way when the Mexican Mafia and the Aryan Brotherhood decide to snuff out a few black guys on the yard? Get a job at the oil refinery? I’d rather work in Napa at the winery!! Every job is fucked up, Robert. But people gotta make their bread. Hip hop’s not a bad way to do it.

  5. Davey, just checked out your twitter. I have to thank you for braving the elements and watching Latino in America for the rest of us. I couldn’t watch one second of it. And, it’s not even because of Lou Dobbs. I expect him to be an asshole. It’s the whole network. Why can’t it be Latino in America every night on that network? Black in America every night? Asian in America every night? Middle Eastern in America every night? They’ve got the time. They run the same stupid stories about celebrities over and over. How hard would it be do give each of the major ethnicity groups in the US a few segments per day? As it stands, it’s White in America all year long, then a couple of weeks where they do Latino in America and Black in America.

“Get a real job” – becoming gainfully employed. The act of going to college, trade school or even it to the military to obtain secure employment with medical and dental benefits, ect. That’s a “real” job a grown MAN’s family can be proud of. When people start saying “every job is fucked up”, those are the type of people that genereally don’t want to do an honest days work for a honest days pay. They generally look for the short cut like hustling drugs, hip-hop, ect. Time to put away childish things and become a MAN, people.

  7. Robert, go to trade school, to be a hack for some business that sells people poison? Don’t even get me started on the military…

Like I said, all businesses are poison, one way or another. Until we go back to trading clay for water….in the meantime, whatever it is you do, it’s going to hurt another person. You’ve explained to us how commercial hip hop does this. Of course, you incorrectly use the term “hip hop”, assuming all of hip hop is poison, when I happen to believe that some independent hip hop not only isn’t poison, but it part of the cure for the world’s ills. Anything you do for a buck helps to destroy the planet and its people, to some degree. You made me laugh my ass off when you said the military. This military, which represents the oil companies….come on, Robert.

You got me on the military, rtf, I wouldn’t recommend the military to any one “I” know, but a young male from the streets has more security, medical and dental benefits, a mission for life, and less chance of being killed there than on these streets. You ever heard of “Corporate Welfare”? Trust me, for my young Black males on the street, I’d rather see them all receiving “Military Welfare” serving their country than to see them smoking blunts, trying to get “hip-hop” careers, and going in and out of prison getting their fudge packed and sucking big black hard ones. We can “love” Black people, or we can be in love with seeing Black people being used and ignorant (hip-hop). I love “my” people, that’s why I will beat them until they wake the hell up!!! Yeah, Hip-hop is “Helping Ignorant People – Hurt Our People” – the question that my people need to answer is “Who are the ignorant people that they are actually helping to hurt our people?” Once they figure that out, the light will come on – “Damn, I do need to find a real job, and Brother was right these past 15 years”. Still sound like a “hippie” that don’t want to work – talking about “Business are poison” – time to grow up and get a real job with benefits, brothers.

  10. i would have a gun too if i was lil weezy..,,it’s crazy people, and haters in the world we live in

  11. Pleading guilty does not always happen…… Every action has its consequences.. People learn because of mistakes… Well, things will be better.
